About The Position

Job Summary: A growing insurance services organization is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to support its expanding operations. This role will report directly to the Controller and focus heavily on onboarding and supporting newly acquired agencies, with a strong emphasis on agency management system processes and accounting functions. The ideal candidate thrives in a growth-focused, fast-moving environment and enjoys leading teams through integrations and process improvements.

Requirements

5+ years of progressive accounting experience within small to mid-sized, multi-location businesses.
Prior experience as an Accounting Manager, Supervisor, or Team Lead.
Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a team of accounting professionals.
Full general ledger and financial reporting responsibility in a prior role.
Strong background in implementing and improving accounting policies and procedures.
Hands-on experience with Applied Epic is required
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, with working knowledge of Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
Must be based in the Greater Chicago area.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a team of staff accountants, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in daily accounting operations.
Oversee the accounting integration of newly acquired agencies, including Applied Epic data entry and reconciliation, general ledger work, and bank reconciliations.
Establish and maintain sound accounting policies and procedures that support a multi-entity, growth-oriented business.
Manage the month-end close process, ensuring timely reporting in a complex and evolving environment.
Partner with agency leadership, external auditors, financial institutions, and other business partners to optimize relationships and processes.
Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting in support of agency operations and management decision-making.
