About The Position

A growing logistics organization is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to play a key role in building and leading its accounting function. This position will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, drive system implementation, and develop processes to support continued expansion. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and motivated by the opportunity to create scalable systems and procedures from the ground up.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience at the Accounting Manager level.
  • Public accounting experience required.
  • Proficiency in NetSuite accounting software required; prior system implementation experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and core accounting principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly and effectively.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Highly motivated with a "can-do" attitude and commitment to continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certification highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of a new accounting system (NetSuite) and leverage technology to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Serve as a key liaison between accounting, finance, and executive leadership.
  • Perform all aspects of month-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Process and account for cash receipts and disbursements.
  • Conduct cost analyses and variance reviews, investigating and reporting irregularities to management.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
  • Prepare and file state and local tax returns; support audits and respond to tax inquiries as needed.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies or unusual items.
  • Support the annual external audit by preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests.
  • Stay current on regulatory requirements and accounting best practices.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects, financial analyses, and process improvement initiatives.
