About The Position

We are a well-established Mechanical company seeking an experienced, hands-on Accounting Manager to manage all financial transactions and lead our accounting operations. This individual will report directly to the Corporate CFO, with a dotted line to President and will be integral to the organization, overseeing daily financial activities, financial reporting, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with at least 5 years of experience in a similar role, and familiarity with Sage Intacct.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior accounting role. Experience in the mechanical, construction, or similar industry is a plus.
  • Software Experience: Experience with Sage Intacct accounting software (strongly preferred).
  • Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
  • Proficient in accounting software (preferably Sage Intacct) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of budgeting, financial analysis, and forecasting.
  • Experience with tax filing and compliance.
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with internal teams and external partners.
  • Candidate must pass criminal background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Accounting and Financial Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (GAAP or other applicable standards).
  • Prepare monthly financial data.
  • Analyze financial performance and provide insights to leadership.
  • General Ledger Management:
  • Performs all general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.
  • Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded in a timely manner.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor and report on budget variances and provide recommendations for cost-saving measures or revenue enhancement.
  • Cash Flow and Banking:
  • Including reconciling bank accounts and managing cash balances.
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable:
  • Oversee and performs the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
  • Coordinate with internal and external parties to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Payroll Processing:
  • Oversee and ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, including managing payroll taxes and benefits.
  • Job Costing and Project Accounting:
  • Track and allocate costs to specific projects or jobs (mechanical services, contracts, etc.).
  • Ensure accurate job costing and report on project profitability.
  • Internal Controls and Compliance:
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and oversee the preparation of tax returns.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
  • Provide monthly financial reports to senior management, including analysis of key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial trends.
  • Ad Hoc Financial Analysis:
  • Assist with financial modeling, cost analysis, and any special reports or financial analysis as required by senior management.
