About The Position

The Vertex Group Accounting Manager is a hands-on, detail-oriented team member who reports directly to the Group Controller and supports the operating companies and group-level accounting and financial reporting efforts. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting for assigned operating companies, while providing payroll-related support. The Accounting Manager plays a key role in ensuring accurate and timely financial processes, maintaining strong internal controls, and partnering closely with the Group Controller and broader finance team to support Vertex Group’s financial objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting and payroll support.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and accounting best practices.
  • Experience with ERP and payroll systems (NetSuite and Paylocity preferred).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with GAAP.
  • Support the Group Controller with consolidated financial reporting, audits, and ad hoc financial analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and well-organized financial records for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage day-to-day accounting activities including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets.
  • Lead the month-end close process for the business unit, ensuring timely completion of journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Assist the Group Controller in developing, documenting, and enhancing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Utilize ERP systems to improve accounting efficiency, reporting accuracy, and financial data visibility across the organization.
  • Support payroll processing in coordination with HR and external payroll providers.
  • Prepare payroll-related journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with payroll audits, reporting, and payroll tax filings as needed.
  • Help ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including HR, operations, and finance to support business initiatives.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and expense management for the business unit and at the group level.
  • Serve as a key liaison between the operating companies and the Group Controller to ensure consistency and alignment in financial reporting.
  • Support group-wide accounting initiatives, system implementations, and process improvements led by the Group Controller.
  • Perform other duties as requested to support the finance organization.
