The Accounting Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of the general ledger and performing other accounting duties related to the month-end close cycle including oversight of senior and staff level accountants. This position will lead external audits and tax preparation work, manage special projects, and complete ad hoc reporting for Executive Leadership. In addition, this position is also charged with the oversight of the treasury and cash management functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in accounting, prior management experience preferred
  • Experience with performing complex accounting research and technical activities
  • Experience with accounting general ledger ERP software, experience with Financial Force preferred
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel
  • Must have meticulous attention to detail and a drive to lead and implement process improvements
  • Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; edit work for spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listen and get clarification; respond well to questions; demonstrate group presentation skills; and lead effective meetings.
  • Able to work well independently, collaborate with others, establish priorities, multi-task, and meet deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant designation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct the timely execution & accuracy of the monthly accounting close process, inclusive of reviewing journal entries, detailed account reconciliations, financial reports & supporting schedules
  • Oversee and maintain all aspects of the general ledger
  • Ensure the accumulation, accuracy, and completeness of all financial data necessary for providing a precise accounting of business outcomes
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide strategic financial guidance and leadership while ensuring effective internal controls through the development and implementation of policies and procedures
  • Plan and implement changes in accounting guidance or changes of accounting method in accordance with US GAAP
  • Ensure successful completion and timely filing of the company’s tax filings
  • Plan for and manage the company’s liquidity needs and oversee cash flow
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the company’s organizational structure to ensure legal compliance across all accounting and finance functions
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage the year end audit with internal stakeholders and external audit partners
  • Develop internal & external relationships and collaborate with others to resolve issues and build process improvements to support corporate growth initiatives
  • Hire, train, and develop accounting staff
  • Establish goals, create professional development opportunities, and provide regular feedback
  • Delegate and manage recurring responsibilities and team projects
  • Promote a positive, collaborative, and effective work environment
  • Support the Executive Leadership Team with ad hoc requests and resolution of issues as needed
  • Leverage technology & innovation to introduce efficiencies and streamline existing manual accounting processes for better business outcomes
  • Monitor and analyze financial KPIs to measure the effectiveness of accounting processes and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Develop and foster a positive, professional, team-oriented, harassment-free work environment by understanding and complying with company policies
