About The Position

Team Leadership and Development: Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback. Delegate tasks and assignments effectively, ensuring work is completed accurately and on time. Foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment, promoting professional growth and development. Financial Reporting and Analysis: Perform month-end closing functions including journal entries, trial balance account analysis of key accounts, and intercompany reconciliations. Assess current accounting operations, offer recommendations for improvement, and implement new processes. Active involvement in year-end financial statement semi-annual bank audits. Perform daily bank reconciliations. Approve AP payments daily on the bank web portal. File all sales & use and state tax filings. Responsible for monthly Borrowing Base. Financial Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, such as accounts payable, and general ledger maintenance. Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities. Lead and Manage External Audits: Serve as the primary point of contact for all external audits, including financial, regulatory, and compliance-related reviews. Coordinate with auditors, prepare and provide required documentation, ensure timely responses to audit inquiries, and implement any necessary follow-up actions. Maintain audit readiness throughout the year by proactively managing audit processes, timeliness, and stakeholder communication. Compliance and Risk Management: Develop and monitor business performance metrics. Evaluate accounting and internal control systems. Evaluate and make recommendations to management regarding business practices. Maintain internal controls and implement procedures to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks. Coordinate and participate in audits, ensuring timely accurate provisions of information. Tax Compliance and Regulatory Filings: Oversee and manage miscellaneous tax filings to ensure timely and accurate submission in compliance with federal, state, and local requirements. Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external tax advisors as needed to gather required information, monitor filing deadlines, and maintain proper documentation. Review filings for accuracy and ensure adherence to applicable tax regulations and reporting standards.

Requirements

  • 5-10+ years of accounting experience
  • Month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, financial reporting, financial analysis, compliance/audit, tax filings, etc.
  • Experience managing a team of 5+ employees
  • Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel analysis
  • Ability to lead, develop and train staff

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing industry experience preferred
  • NetSuite experience
