About The Position

X Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Accounting Manager with proven experience managing government contracts. The Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day accounting operations and ensure compliance with government contracting regulations, including FAR, GAAP, and DCAA requirements. This role is responsible for managing the accounting team, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting audits, and providing financial insight to leadership. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, experience in government contracting environments, and a collaborative leadership style.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a government contracting environment.
  • Strong knowledge of FAR, GAAP, and DCAA compliance requirements.
  • Experience with job cost accounting and indirect rate structures.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a mid-size government contractor.
  • Experience supporting DCAA audits and preparing incurred cost submissions.
  • Familiarity with ERP system implementations or process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the general ledger, month-end and year-end close processes, and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements for accuracy and completeness.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and payroll coordination to ensure proper controls and compliance.
  • Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) requirements.
  • Oversee indirect rate structures and support rate development and monitoring.
  • Support preparation and submission of incurred cost proposals and other required government reports.
  • Serve as a key point of contact during DCAA and other external audits.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for management.
  • Provide variance analysis, budget-to-actual reporting, and financial insights to support business decisions.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
  • Support executive leadership with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with project managers, contracts, HR, and operations teams to ensure accurate project costing and reporting.
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives to improve systems, processes, and scalability.
