About The Position

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing all financial accounts as directed by the Chief Financial Officer and/or the Executive Director, which also includes payroll. This role involves managing all facets of payroll and assisting employees with their payroll needs. Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate accounting records for a successful and timely year-end close, collaborating on year-end tax return preparation, and processing month-end financial closes. The manager will also reconcile various accounts such as accounts receivable, bank accounts, and credit card charges, manage 1099 vendors, and handle various licenses/returns. The position oversees accurate payroll accounting, tax deposits, and accounts payable, including reviewing invoices daily and providing operating expense reports. Additionally, the Accounting Manager is responsible for managing all checking, money market, and CD accounts, preparing bank deposits, and handling special projects. The role requires problem-solving, meeting deadlines, and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, including monitoring data, producing financial reports, and enforcing proper accounting methods and policies. The manager will assist in planning and supervising the company's financial strategy, manage financial accounts, budget, cash receipts, and assets, and prepare for financial audits. The role also involves enforcing company policies and safety procedures, and continuously updating job knowledge.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3-5 years’ experience working in accounting.
  • Experience using MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience creating standard operating procedures is required.
  • Interest and ability to use new technology and apply process improvement is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, including both oral and written.
  • Experience managing issues and concerns for a diverse employee group is required.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate accounting records to manage a successful and timely year-end close.
  • Collaborate with the CFO and CPA in preparing the year-end tax return prep.
  • Timely and accurately process month-end close of financials.
  • Reconcile the accounts receivable on a monthly and timely basis.
  • Accurately enter journal entries.
  • Reconcile all bank accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Reconcile and enter credit card charges.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date list of 1099 vendors.
  • File and pay various licenses/returns as necessary.
  • Reconcile the balance sheet accounts and accrue out pre-paid expenses as needed.
  • Maintains accurate payroll accounting including all associated reports, deposits, deductions, and reimbursements.
  • File all tax deposits accurately and in a timely manner to avoid all penalties.
  • Anticipates and resolves the need to have Managers sign Tax deposit check.
  • Responsible for processing accounts payable.
  • Responsible for reviewing invoices daily, prior to inputting information into the CBS computerized accounts payable program.
  • Provides a weekly, up-to-date computerized CBS operating expenses report to the Managers and Executive Director.
  • Assigns invoices to the appropriate general ledger account number.
  • Obtains clarification when necessary.
  • Provides end of the month reports to the accountant by the 15th of the following month.
  • Maintain accurate accounting and availability of petty cash.
  • Maintains and updates accurately the monthly operating expense report.
  • Provides copy to Executive Director.
  • Responsible for managing all checking accounts, money market accounts and CD accounts.
  • Maintains accurate balances in the check registers for all checking, money market and CD accounts.
  • Accurately prepares the bank deposits when the accounts receivable position is absent.
  • Responsible for researching, coordinating and completing necessary documents for establishing and maintaining bank accounts.
  • Responsible for initiation, follow through and implementation of special projects assigned by the Executive Director and/or Managers.
  • Demonstrates the ability to problem solve, follow through and complete assigned tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Manages and oversees the daily operations of the accounting department.
  • Monitors and analyzes accounting data and produces financial reports or statements.
  • Establishes and enforces proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
  • Assist in planning, implementing, and supervising the company’s financial strategy.
  • Manages the company’s financial accounts, payroll, budget, cash receipts and financial assets.
  • Assist with preparing pre-audit work papers for the company’s financial audits.
  • Follows proper accounting procedures to reach financial objectives.
  • Responsible for reviewing accounts receivable and accounts receivable aging.
  • Enforces Company policies and safety procedures.
  • Regularly updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining professional networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
