The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing general accounting duties and general ledger maintenance. Some of the responsibilities will include input and review of journal entries, reconciliations, and the development and implementation of new accounting processes, and solving discrepancies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Previous management experience required
  • 5+ years of accounting experience (experience with a financial institution is required)
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and financial statements.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with management and team members.
  • Ability to effectively manage time as related to daily tasks.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple demands in a high-pressure environment while maintaining professional demeanor.
  • Ability to operate in a team environment to accomplish shared goals
  • Ability to work with complex mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situation.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software packages.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Demonstrate a healthy sense of professional skepticism; review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
  • Experience with Word processing software (Microsoft Word)
  • Other Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Teams, One Note, PowerPoint)
  • Copier/Scanner
  • Business intelligence and KPI reporting and query applications
  • Sit or stand for extended periods
  • See to read small print or complex reports
  • Manually operate keyboard, mouse and other personal computing devices
  • Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Ensure integrity of the Bank’s general ledger and accounting processes.
  • Implement controls and procedures.
  • File regulatory reports.
  • Drive the month end closing process.
  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results.
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.
  • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending.
  • Participate in financial standards setting.
  • Provide input into department’s goal setting process.
  • Prepare financial statements according to schedule.
  • Assist with tax audits and tax returns.
  • Support month-end and year-end close process.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Prepare and enter intercompany journal entries and oversee their reconciliation.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP principles.
  • Liaise with our CFO and Controller to improve financial procedures.
  • Prepares/reviews/analyzes ad-hoc reports as needed.
  • Prepare schedules for the Call report
  • Other related duties as assigned.
