Requirements

  • A strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience managing month‑end and year‑end close processes.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements applicable to credit unions or financial institutions.
  • The ability to analyze financial data and clearly communicate results to non‑financial stakeholders.
  • Experience working with auditors, examiners, and third‑party partners.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and financial software.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • A continuous‑improvement mindset and comfort leading process enhancements.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; equivalent experience or professional certifications (CPA, CMA, or similar) considered a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee credit union accounting operations, including the general ledger, account reconciliations, month‑end close, and preparation of accurate financial statements and NCUA Call Reports (5300).
  • Ensure compliance with NCUA regulations, GAAP, internal policies, and established internal controls; proactively address regulatory and audit findings.
  • Analyze financial results, trends, and variances to support strategic planning, budgeting, and informed decision‑making by leadership.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff
  • Collaborate with auditors, NCUA examiners, and internal departments, coordinating examinations, audits, and information requests.
  • Improve processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and accountability
