About The Position

We’re seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee the full accounting cycle for construction projects—covering accounts payable, accounts receivable, job cost tracking, reconciliations, and draw management. The ideal candidate will ensure financial accuracy, maintain strong cash flow, and deliver clear, timely reporting to leadership, lenders, and clients.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience (construction or project-based industry preferred).
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks, BuilderTrend (or similar project management system), and Excel.
  • Strong understanding of job cost accounting, draw cycles, and financial reconciliation.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills when working with project managers, clients, and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, log, and process vendor invoices through BuilderTrend and QuickBooks.
  • Code invoices accurately to the correct project, budget category, and cost code.
  • Coordinate invoice approvals with project managers and ownership.
  • Prepare and distribute vendor payments (ACH/check).
  • Manage accounts receivable, including client invoicing, draw requests, and collection follow-up.
  • Set up financial accounts for each project in QuickBooks.
  • Maintain daily transaction logs and attach all invoice documentation.
  • Perform biweekly budget reconciliations, prepare variance reports, and distribute findings to project managers.
  • Adjust costs appropriately between the P&L and balance sheet based on project phase and accounting requirements.
  • Compile and reconcile unpaid bills by job reports.
  • Prepare complete draw packages with invoices, summaries, and supporting documentation.
  • Submit and track draws with lenders or clients, verify disbursements, and log all receipts.
  • Maintain master draw schedules and update project cash flow projections.
  • Prepare monthly P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
  • Reconcile loan accounts, vendor accounts, and client retainage balances.
  • Present monthly financial reports and project-close financial packages to leadership.
  • Conduct post-project financial analysis and maintain historical cost data for future budgeting.
  • Maintain strict record-keeping for invoices, draws, payments, and approvals.
  • Archive financial documents in Dropbox or other designated systems per SOP.
  • Ensure all accounting processes align with internal controls and external compliance requirements.
