About The Position

The Accounting Manager oversees the daily operations of the Accounting Department and supports Core Bank’s vision of being a high-performing, tech-forward, solutions-based community bank. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with applicable accounting standards and banking regulations. The Accounting Manager actively participates in month-end close, reconciliations, and financial analysis. This position partners closely with internal teams, auditors, and regulators to provide reliable financial information that supports sound decision-making and consistent shareholder return, while living Core Bank’s values of collaboration, accountability, curiosity, and service. In addition to technical and operational excellence, the Accounting Manager is expected to lead their team in a way that reflects Core Bank’s leadership philosophy. This includes creating psychological safety, coaching and developing high-performing individuals, fostering a collaborative and non-hierarchical team environment, and actively managing team morale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required, or equivalent applicable experience
  • Five (5) or more years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a bank or financial institution
  • Alignment with Core Bank’s Purpose, Vision, and Values
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and bank accounting practices
  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements and internal controls in a banking environment
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams

  • Prior supervisory or team-lead experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, including workload management, training, and performance evaluations
  • Ensure cross-training and coverage for critical accounting functions
  • Promote a strong control-conscious and compliance-focused culture
  • Responsible for daily accounting operations, including general ledger activity, reconciliations, and journal entries
  • Coordinate and review month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial statements
  • Review balance sheet and income statement accounts for accuracy and completeness
  • Assist in preparing internal financial reports for management and the Board
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, banking regulations, and internal accounting policies
  • Support regulatory examinations, internal audits, and external audits; coordinate responses and documentation
  • Assist with preparation and review of Call Reports and other regulatory filings, as applicable
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, efficiency, and system utilization
  • Assist with documentation of accounting procedures and control narratives
  • Partner with Operations, Lending, Treasury, and Technology teams on accounting-related matters
  • Support the Controller and CFO with special projects, system implementations, and analysis
  • Provide guidance on accounting treatment for new products, transactions, or initiatives
  • Regular attendance is required.
