About The Position

In conjunction with the SVP of Finance, the Accounting Manager will oversee and lead the day-to-day Finance Accounting functions and responsibilities. Ensures that all Finance Accounting roles, policies, processes, procedures and reporting are in compliance with required regulations including GAAP and FASB. Supports the Finance Senior Accountant, Finance Accounting Specialist, Finance Accountants and Accounts Payable Representative positions by providing strategic oversight, coaching, mentoring, conducting periodic performance evaluations and empowering employees. Responsible for the accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of financial statement preparation and distribution.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of five years related experience is required, time spent in preparatory roles.

Nice To Haves

A Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting, more than five years' experience working in a credit union accounting environment and three or more years management experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assumes responsibility for the efficient and effective operation of the Finance Accounting area by complying with GAAP, FASB and credit union policies and procedures. Ensures overall area compliance with credit union policies and procedures. This also includes compliance with regulatory requirements and audit rules.
Ultimately responsible for the timely and accurate reporting of financial statements and general ledger management.
In conjunction with the SVP of Finance, develops short and long-term goals, objectives and business plans for the Finance Accounting area linking the efforts of the area to the credit union Strategic Plan.
Supports the SVP of Finance with respect to the credit union budget, forecasting and reporting process as well as the credit union’s ALM and modeling efforts.
Ensures that the Finance Accounting area is in full compliance with all regulatory and audit rules, regulations and requirements.
Oversees the development, submission and monitoring of functional area procedures relative to the daily operations of Finance Accounting.
Assumes the responsibility for project management in the positions of team lead or team participant relative to the global strategic or departmental business plans.
Serves as the Finance Accounting support with CPA firms, National Credit Union Association (NCUA), Department of Banking and Supervisory Committee relative to audits and examinations.
Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, evaluation of performance and individual development goals for Accounting Team. Expected to build a cohesive team environment, ensuring adherence to Belco’s Behavioral Expectations both individually and as a team.
