About The Position

The Accounting Manager will oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes. This role supports various systems implementation efforts along with the internal SEMA team and external vendors. The Accounting Manager will continuously seek opportunities for automation by maximizing the use of ERP capabilities. Additionally, this position will help with annual financial audit activities and the annual corporate financial controls audit, addressing internal control findings and recommendations from audits, and designing and implementing processes for remediation. The role also involves assessing current practices and procedures, making recommendations for financial reporting and operational improvements, preparing, reviewing, and analyzing financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness, performing ad hoc analysis and projects as requested, and developing staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships. The Accounting Manager will work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. CPA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with a portion of it being in a supervisory role.
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
  • Systems implementation experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization.
  • Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results.
  • Knowledge of employee relationship building and performance management techniques.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with other financial systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships.
  • Work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end.
