About the position

Open opportunity for an Accounting Manager within the General Accounting team of the US Accounting COE team based in Rolling Meadows, IL. The Manager will be responsible for accounting of our capital assets and Gallagher Technology Services accounting function to ensure that results are properly controlled and in accordance with U.S. GAAP. The Manager will be part of the General Accounting group and will report directly to the Senior Manager of General Accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and review the work of a three-member team to complete all month-end close responsibilities and deliverables
  • Partner with stakeholders across IT, Procurement & Finance to improve financial and accounting accuracy
  • Review projects across Global Gallagher and provide recommendations if certain costs meet our criteria for capitalized software or cloud computing assets
  • Perform analysis over capital asset accounting to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP
  • Resolve complex finance and accounting challenges
  • Improve processes and deliverables by automating and refining tasks to ease workload during periods of peak volume
  • Investigate and resolve data quality issues and reporting discrepancies
  • Provide support for internal and external audits including control walkthroughs, documentation support and inquiry response
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate cross-functionally to meet strict project execution deadlines

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 7 years of related experience required
  • Requires broad general accounting knowledge, including FASB and GAAP regulations
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of the insurance brokerage business
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Minimum 6 years related experience
  • Prior experience managing teams / personnel
  • Experience with capital discernment and Information Technology accounting. Preferably has prior experience with capitalized software guidance
  • Excellent verbal, written, computer, financial data, internal consulting, and customer-focused communication and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to follow through on multiple tasks and priorities
  • Good working knowledge of accounting standards, account reconciliations, and month end close experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite of products; Advanced level skills in Excel
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently with precise detail and follow-up reporting
  • Financial analysis and budgeting experience
  • Public company audit or accounting experience
  • Good working knowledge of the insurance brokerage business
