About the position

Seneca Holdings is seeking an Accounting Manager in Williamsville, NY. This is a hybrid opportunity. The Accounting Manager will perform month-end closing activities, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, analyzing financial data, consolidating, and recognizing revenue to ensure accuracy and completeness. The role involves analyzing project profitability, reconciling and maintaining cost pools, reviewing daily accounts payable vouchers for accuracy and correct coding, overseeing biweekly payroll postings, administrating expense reporting software, supporting external auditors, and collaborating with other departments including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Projects Controls. The position also requires identifying and implementing improvements in accounting processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform month-end closing activities, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, analyzing financial data, consolidating, and recognizing revenue.
  • Analyze project profitability.
  • Reconcile and maintain cost pools.
  • Review daily accounts payable vouchers for accuracy and correct coding.
  • Oversee posting of biweekly payrolls.
  • Administrate expense reporting software.
  • Support external auditors by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Collaborate with other departments including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Projects Controls.
  • Identify and implement improvements in accounting processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Eight (8) years or more of accounting experience; four (4) years in governmental accounting.
  • CPA license preferred.
  • ERP and system experience (company uses Deltek Costpoint & Cognos Report Writing for financial reporting, integrated SAP Concur, & ADP Workforce Now for payroll processing).
  • Six (6) years of experience in corporate accounting.
  • Strong experience in preparation of financial statements including consolidations.
  • Significant experience with project-based ERP.
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting required; knowledge of government contract accounting principles and FAR strongly preferred.
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking – using logic and reason, creative and strategic.
  • Proficient in computers and standard office applications (specifically in Microsoft Excel).
  • Demonstrated capacity for attention to detail and accuracy of work product.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Respectful team player.
