About The Position

The Accounting Manager I assists in the planning and directing of accounting activities within the organization by performing various duties personally or through subordinate associates. This role supports accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, as well as the daily activities of the Accounting department. The manager is responsible for training new and existing staff, reporting on business plans including manpower and budget, and completing monthly financial closings, account reconciliations, and analysis activities. Additionally, the role involves supporting internal and external audits, preparing accounting forms and documentation, and engaging in cost accounting activities. The manager collaborates with department managers to monitor monthly budget variances and is responsible for creating necessary documents to aid with training for finance department activities.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years minimum in a similar function within a manufacturing environment, automotive manufacturing experience preferred.
  • 4-year degree in accounting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and Word.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Ability to work with office equipment such as fax, copier, and calculator.
  • Ability to work in an open office, team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced office.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrates high level of integrity, business ethics, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to build friendly work relationships, develop cross-department teams, and mentor junior staff.
  • Familiarity with accounting concepts, practices, and procedures, strong in GAAP, familiar with IFRS.

Responsibilities

  • Supports accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
  • Supports the daily activities of the Accounting department.
  • Supports training to new and existing staff as needed.
  • Supports reporting Accounting department business plans including manpower and budget.
  • Supports the completion of monthly financial closings, account reconciliations, and analysis activities.
  • Supports internal/external audits-related reports and inquiries.
  • Prepares and updates Accounting forms and documentation.
  • Supports Cost Accounting activities and functions.
  • Develops more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Supports Quarterly Physical Inventory and financial-related activities.
  • Supports monthly forecast preparations.
  • Supports annual expense budget creation.
  • Collaborates with department managers to monitor monthly budget variances.
  • Conducts gap analysis budgeting.
  • Performs balance sheet reconciliations for COGS-related accounts.
  • Communicates with management and others in a cooperative manner.
  • Creates necessary documents (work instructions) to aid with training for finance department activity.
  • Performs due diligence on calculated and contributed data included in financial reports.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping.
  • Follows all directions given by site and regional management on all projects.
  • Uses time management skills to organize, prioritize, and delegate multiple projects to meet project deadlines.
