About The Position

The Accounting Internship at Capstone Research Corporation offers a unique opportunity for students or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in government contract accounting. Interns will work in a dynamic environment, focusing on travel administration, accounts payable, and compliance with government regulations, while supporting the financial operations of a customer-oriented engineering services company.

Requirements

• Pursuing or a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• Completion of general education courses and currently pursuing a Government Contract Accounting Certificate.
• Strong Analytical Skills, attention to detail, and ability to conduct effective written and verbal communication.
• Commitment to ethical conduct and integrity in financial reporting, compliance, and business practices, particularly in the context of government contracting.

Responsibilities

• Process Travel Activities in a Government Contract environment, including travel requests, approvals, trip reports, reimbursement, and invoicing.
• Process Accounts Payable.
• Assist with timekeeping and payroll tasks.
• Perform general office tasks as needed, such as filing, organizing financial documents, and assisting with documentation.
• Assist in tracking and analyzing project costs, ensuring compliance with government contract regulations (such as FAR - Federal Acquisition Regulation) and specific contract terms.
• Prepare financial reports, perform research and analysis, maintain general ledger, perform account reconciliations, and other accounting duties as assigned.
• Ensure adherence to government contract regulations and internal control procedures and provide support during government audits and reviews.
