About The Position
Wipfli LLP is seeking an Accounting Intern for Spring 2026 to join our team in Missoula, Montana. This internship is designed for students pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, providing them with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the accounting field. Interns will work closely with professionals at all levels of the firm, allowing them to experience the Wipfli Way firsthand. The internship will involve a variety of accounting-related responsibilities, including tax and audit work, and will help interns develop the skills necessary to become trusted business advisors for clients and associates. Interns will be responsible for responding to client and firm associate requests in a timely, accurate, positive, and professional manner. They will gather necessary information from clients to complete required documents and utilize data analysis skills to discover useful information and patterns that support recommendations. The internship will provide experience in either tax or audit, or in some cases, both. Tax-specific responsibilities include preparing individual, business, and fiduciary tax returns, understanding and using current tax and accounting software applications, and researching tax-related issues. Audit-specific responsibilities include performing audit, review, and compliance testing procedures, communicating with engagement leaders regarding open items, and preparing financial statements and management reports. This internship is an excellent opportunity for students to gain exposure to a variety of clients and industries, ranging from small businesses to large corporations. Interns will develop administrative, professional, and interpersonal skills, enabling them to organize, analyze, and communicate effectively with others.
