The Accounting Intern will gain hands-on experience in a professional environment, supporting core accounting functions while developing practical skills in financial analysis, reconciliations, and reporting. The role is designed to balance meaningful project work with learning and professional development.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a trade, degree, or certificate program at an accredited institution.
  • Available for a minimum of 10 weeks of in-person intern programming in Grand Rapids, MI
  • Ability to commit to scheduled work hours and program requirements.
  • Strong interest in learning and professional development.
  • Coursework or interest in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to budgeting, cost tracking, or financial analysis projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Accounting team with day-to-day accounting activities
  • Assist with reconciliations, data entry, and financial reporting
  • Help maintain documentation and support internal controls and audit readiness
  • Perform analytical and administrative tasks to support month-end and operational processes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams as needed to understand financial workflows
  • Assist with monthly account reconciliations and perform variance analysis to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Support accounts payable and/or accounts receivable processes, including review and documentation.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain supporting schedules for financial reporting purposes.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Document accounting processes and propose efficiency improvements to enhance workflow and accuracy.
