About The Position

Accounting Internship with Elliott Equipment Company Overall Summary The Accounting Intern provides administrative and accounting support to the Finance Department within a manufacturing environment. This role offers hands-on experience with daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities. The intern will gain exposure to manufacturing accounting processes, financial reporting, and internal controls while supporting accurate and timely financial operations. Essential Job Functions Assist with accounts payable processing, including invoice entry, matching purchase orders, and filing documentation. Support accounts receivable activities such as posting customer payments and preparing deposit documentation. Assist with reconciliation of accounts, including bank accounts and general ledger balances. Help maintain organized accounting records and electronic filing systems. Support month-end closing activities, including preparation of journal entries and account analysis. Review expense reports for accuracy and proper documentation. Provide administrative support to accounting staff as needed. Maintain confidentiality of financial and company information. Learning Opportunities Exposure to manufacturing accounting principles. Understanding ERP systems used in manufacturing operations. Financial reporting and internal control procedures. Cross-department collaboration with production, purchasing, and operations teams.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework in cost accounting or managerial accounting.
  • Experience with ERP or accounting software (manufacturing systems preferred).
  • Prior office or accounting experience.
