About The Position

Engrain builds map-based tech that’s redefining how real estate works. Our interactive, unit-level maps and powerful data integrations help over 1,000 companies—and 20,000 properties—to make smarter decisions, streamline leasing, and deliver better renter experiences. From prospect to renewal, our products give properties a spatial brain and a visual edge when it comes to property marketing and management. And it’s working: our churn rate is just 5%, and we’ve been putting up double-digit growth numbers every year. We’re not your typical proptech company. We move fast, we stay curious, and we don’t do stale or corporate fluff. Backed by successful Seed and Series A rounds, we’re entering a phase of serious scale. We are searching for an Accounting & Finance Intern to learn from our team this summer. This nine week internship provides meaningful, real world experience for students pursuing a degree in accounting or finance. The program combines hands-on exposure to accounting operations, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and executive leadership to show how classroom concepts translate into practical business applications. It is designed to strengthen technical knowledge, analytical thinking, and professional confidence through guided work and mentorship from the finance team. This role will be on site at our Greenwood Village Colorado office, full time (approximately 40 hours per week). The intern will divide their time, spending a designated portion of each week with the accounting and FP&A team while also executing a finance leadership directed project focused on applied experience and entity benchmarking.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (entering junior or senior preferred).
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general familiarity with accounting or financial systems.
  • Demonstrated reliability, initiative, and collaborative work style.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in public accounting, audit, FP&A, or corporate finance.

Responsibilities

  • Accounting Rotation (4 weeks): Participate in the month end and quarter end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and ledger review. Gain exposure to GAAP and ASC principles in real world applications and support preparation of reports and supporting documentation.
  • FP&A Rotation (4 weeks): Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly management reports and performing variance analysis between actual results and forecasts. Contribute to financial modeling, forecasting processes, and review of key business performance metrics.
  • Leadership Exposure (1 week): Observe senior finance leadership, including the CFO, during meetings and planning discussions. Participate in a concluding reflection and presentation summarizing the internship experience and key learnings.
  • Internship Research Project: Lead a research-driven analysis comparing company performance against 4 to 6 industry peers. You will analyze key metrics such as margins, revenue growth, and working capital ratios to produce a comprehensive report with data visualizations and strategic insights.
