About The Position

Independently performs and manages the accounting functions at Sterling Technologies including maintenance of books and development of company financial statements. The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for assemblies used in automotive, aerospace, industrial, or other applications. This role involves analyzing customer specifications, drawings, and bills of materials to determine material, labor, and overhead costs. The estimator collaborates with engineering, purchasing, and production teams to ensure competitive and profitable pricing.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Strong understanding of components and assembly processes or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing / job shop preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all accounting records including the General Ledger account balances.
  • Manage the completion of the month-end closing process.
  • Prepare and post journal entries associated with month-end and year-end close of books, including using reports from third party payroll, standard costing of materials from ERP system and other JE’s as needed.
  • Prepare and deliver financial statements including Balance Sheets, Profit and Loss Statements, Statement of Cash Flows, KPI reporting and other financial reports. Prepare budget variance analysis.
  • Prepare 13-week rolling cash flow statements on a frequent basis.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all outside professional services, including auditors, CPA firms and other financial institutions as necessary.
  • Responsible for the reconciliation of the company’s cash and deposit accounts and credit card expense reports.
  • Review and interpret customer drawings, specifications, and requirements for assemblies.
  • Develop detailed cost estimates including materials, labor, tooling, and overhead.
  • Identify and list appropriate components.
  • Collaborate with engineering to validate design.
  • Prepare and submit bills of material to General Manager within required timelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, revisions, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in developing pricing strategies and margin analysis.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in estimating processes and tools.
