About The Position

This position oversees the accounting operations and internal control processes of Select Health and provides accounting assistance on various projects. This leader provides monthly variance explanations to senior management of actual performance compared to the annual plan and quarterly reforecast; provides analysis and support for technical accounting areas; and participates in job-related internal control initiatives. Duties include overseeing the accounting operations, ensuring financial accounting and reporting is in compliance with U.S generally accepted accounting principles (U.S. GAAP), maintaining a strong system of internal controls and hiring, training, developing and retaining competent personnel, and coordinating with internal and external audit teams. This position wil require regular in-office time at the Select Health campus in Murray, Utah. Candidates within reasonable commuting distance to this location are preferred. Essential Functions Responsible for accounting operations of certain companies within Intermountain. May include entry and validation of accounting transactions integrating into Intermountain’s general ledger. Engages in ongoing communication and interaction with operational and finance leadership roles. Monitors and implements appropriate processes for the recording of revenues, expenses, assets, liabilities, and net assets, as applicable. Ensures that accurate and timely financials statements are produced for each company. Acts as a resource to the accounting staff in solving operational accounting problems. Establishes and standardizes accounting practices according to Intermountain policies, best practices and U.S. GAAP. Works with management to help ensure financial information supports operational needs and is provided in an appropriate format. Provides monthly preliminary variance explanations and assists in budget processes. Ensures that balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly and reviewed at least quarterly. Assists in the preparation and review of corporate annual audited statements and related disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP. Coordinates internal reviews with internal and external audit. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Master’s in accounting or business field. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
  • Demonstrated progressive accounting leadership experience in complex organization is required, healthcare experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing high performing teams, projects, and budgets.
  • Experience in a role requiring demonstrated attention to detail with excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills (both written and oral) with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
