About The Position

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach on-site in Schriever Air Force Base, CO, in the Accounting program. Specifically, we are seeking faculty for the following course(s): Principles of Accounting I (ACCT 220), Principles of Accounting II (ACCT 221), and Accounting Information Systems (ACCT 326). The courses cover fundamental principles of accounting, financial and managerial accounting practices, and the use of Accounting Information Systems tools to record, process, and analyze financial data. The role involves engaging students, providing feedback, and demonstrating subject-matter expertise.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Professional experience in Accounting or related field.
  • Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred.
  • Certification such as the CPA, CIA, CISA, or CFE.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed.
  • Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning in problem- and project-based learning demonstrations.
  • Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work.
  • Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise.
  • Provide feedback to your program chair on possible curricular improvements.
