About The Position

The Accounting Coordinator supports finance staff at Lighthouse Mission Ministries (LMM) by assisting with day-to-day accounting and administrative finance functions. This role helps ensure accurate financial records, timely processing of transactions, and smooth financial operations in support of LMM’s mission. The Accounting Coordinator works under the direction of the Vice President of Finance and contributes to a culture of accuracy, confidentiality, service, and stewardship.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • At least 1 year of accounting, bookkeeping, or financial administration experience
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general computer applications
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to manage time effectively in a part-time schedule
  • Alignment with Lighthouse Mission Ministries’ mission and Christian values

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or coursework in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Experience with nonprofit accounting or fund accounting
  • Exposure to payroll processing and expense reimbursement systems
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar systems)
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team

Responsibilities

  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processing.
  • Enter and reconcile financial transactions in the accounting system.
  • Support bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Assist with preparation and organization of financial reports.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records and files.
  • Support payroll processing and expense reimbursement documentation.
  • Track invoices, receipts, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing tasks as assigned.
  • Support audit preparation by gathering requested documentation.
  • Help track restricted and designated funds under supervision.
  • Respond to basic finance-related inquiries from staff.
  • Assist with data entry related to budgets and forecasts.
  • Follow established financial policies and internal controls.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of financial and personnel information.
  • Use accounting software and related tools accurately and efficiently.
  • Identify and communicate discrepancies or errors to the Finance team.
  • Participate in department and all-staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Support process improvements and administrative efficiencies as requested.
  • Model a positive, professional, and Christ-centered work ethic.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
