About The Position

The company is a global real estate service provider specializing in residential and commercial property management for institutional and individual investors. This role of Accounting Associate is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely financial records for over 500 properties across different states. The ideal candidate will apply their general accounting experience and strong technical skills to support the overall financial health and operational efficiency of the property management portfolio. Requirements

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of general accounting experience is required.
  • Strong proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel skills, and various accounting software systems.
  • Demonstrated multi-tasking skills and the ability to effectively manage accounting work for a large volume of client accounts (over 500) located in multiple states.
  • Excellent teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with co-workers not only within the same division but also across different organizational divisions.
  • Exceptional communication skills to accurately interpret and present accounting results using language and terms understandable to both co-workers and property owners.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting is strongly preferred.
  • Working experience in the Real Estate industry is preferred.
  • Prior working knowledge of the AppFolio accounting software is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and entering accounts payable voucher submissions for expenses such as repair, maintenance, and others.
  • Reviewing and entering accounts receivable agings, focusing on delinquencies, cash applications, and prepaid rent application.
  • Calculating and accurately entering monthly contract item accruals (e.g., common charges, security deposits, property tax, and utility expenses) to ensure expenses are matched to the period incurred.
  • Reviewing cash balances for the proper reversal of accrual entries in the subsequent accounting period.
  • Collaborating closely with other internal accounting teams across different divisions for seamless processing of internal transactions.
  • Preparing the cash flow statement for owners' tie-out to balance the General Ledger and the property management accounting systems.
  • Understanding that duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.
