About The Position

Metals USA is seeking an Accounting Assistant in Langhorne (Bucks County) PA. Metals USA is a solid, growth oriented, carbon-steel (plate, beam, tube) distribution center servicing the defense, commercial, construction, aerospace and fabrication industries. The Accounting Assistant is responsible for providing accounting and clerical assistance to the Accounting/Credit Department including accounts receivable transactions, general ledger entries, account reconciliations, assist with month end close, audits, and corporate reporting while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Ability to communicate (oral & written) effectively with both internal & external customers
  • Must have strong analytical skills and a background in accounting
  • Ability to adhere to standard office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to perform accounting/credit department duties including filing, customer service, attention to detail, organizational management and time management
  • Ability to interface effectively with all departments to foster a success-oriented, deadline driven organization
  • Ability to work in a high volume, transaction driven environment
  • Good organizational skills, able to make sound decisions utilizing the data at hand
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism & diplomacy to include telephone etiquette at all levels
  • Computer Literacy to include Microsoft Office Products, including Outlook and Excel, as well as company ERP system.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post cash receipts to customer accounts.
  • Process credit card payments routinely.
  • Research discrepancies and ensure sales tax compliance.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly accounts receivable aging reports
  • Maintain accurate customer information according to company procedures.
  • Research and respond to accounting inquiries in a prompt manner.
  • Assist in month end close process by ensuring appropriate and accurate data is entered into ERP
  • Provide general administrative and clerical support to the Accounting/Credit Department which may include preparing spreadsheets, organizing documents, scanning, indexing and filing.
  • Assist the Accounting/Credit Department with the preparation of accurate account reconciliations and entry of manual journal entries.
  • Assist with special projects within the Accounting/Credit Department.
  • Maintain work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is essential to perform the duties of an Accounting Assistant
  • Adhere to all established company policies and procedures including all safety regulations.
  • Adhere to all company, customer and employee confidentiality requirements.
  • Adhere to the Reliance, Inc Code of Conduct and other essential guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
