About The Position

We are on a mission to grow Second Nature Brands from $500MM to $1+B in the next 4 years through a combination of organic growth (increased distribution, e-commerce, and innovation) and M&A. We are seeking an Accounting and Reporting Manager at our new Chicago satellite office. Reporting to the Assistant Corporate Controller, the Accounting & Reporting Manager is responsible for leading the monthly close process and ensuring financial statements are prepared in accordance with GAAP. In addition, they will provide analytical input, recommend process improvements with a focus on data and automation, and assist with systems project activity as planned for a rapidly growing company.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Accounting
  • 5+ years of financial experience
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting. Proficient in technical accounting research
  • Experience performing financial reporting consolidations – both multicurrency and multiple companies and, intercompany eliminations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication (written/verbal) skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to develop high levels of credibility and forge solid and positive professional relationships with subordinates, peers, and upper management
  • Proficient user of Microsoft office suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Prior experience developing reporting packages, reconciliations, work instructions, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA and/or MBA a plus
  • CPG and/or experience in a multi-facility manufacturing environment, preferred
  • SAP experience and/or ERP implementation experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Company’s overall monthly financial close process, including four plants, multiple accounting systems (Sage and SAP), and foreign currency translations
  • Review and post journal entries and accruals
  • Prepare the consolidated financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, statement of cashflow), including trend reporting and analysis; prepare quarterly Lender Reporting package
  • Collaborate with FP&A, operations, and plant finance teams on variance analysis and financial performance
  • Review monthly account reconciliations and weekly bank reconciliations
  • Assist with the preparation of business process and standard operating procedures documentation to contribute to an effective and efficient financial reporting and system of internal controls
  • Assist with the annual financial statement audit
  • Guide, coach, and mentor Sr. Accountants
  • Recommend process and control improvements, including leveraging data and automation to drive simplicity and efficiency
  • Support the design and implementation of new system and reporting implementations
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis and participate in special projects, as required
