About The Position

The Accounting Analyst I is responsible for various internal controls, accounting, and analytical tasks. This position will be responsible for maintaining account reconciliations, various month end close activities, and ensuring GAAP compliance within our U.S. Energy Division. These responsibilities will require proficient knowledge in Excel and data manipulation, as well as an ability to understand and enhance processes and procedures. This position will be located at our Corporate Office in Appleton, WI with in-office expectations four days/week (Monday - Thursday) with Fridays as an optional in-office or work from home day, depending on business need.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in accounting, finance or a related field required
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Knows fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of accounting
  • Effective team player able to collaborate cross functionally
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate detailed information in a clear, easy to understand manner
  • Willingness and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Display strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other financial software systems
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial regulations
  • Demonstrates process improvement mindset

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and prompt reconciliation of account reconciliations and completion of month end close journal entries
  • Review and verify the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records
  • Participate in monthly budgeting and forecasting process as needed
  • Assist with audit requirements
  • Understands internal controls for assigned area and assists with execution of controls
  • Perform ad hoc projects as requested by the business
