We’re looking for a detail‑driven and proactive Accountant to support our Field Services division, with responsibilities spanning project setup and closeout as well as bi‑weekly payroll. At KITCO Fiber Optics, we are a leading provider of fiber optic termination products and consulting services to the military and commercial communications industry. We specialize in the design and fabrication of fiber optic tools, tool kits, and custom cable assemblies. We also produce private label kits for a number of major connector manufacturers and sell our own broad line of products. Our field services division also performs on-site termination, splicing, troubleshooting and testing support, and our training division provides hands-on training and certification programs. We are recognized within the defense industry as fiber optic connectivity experts and, for over 20 years, have customized our products and services to meet strict military standards. Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of payroll processes, wage and hour laws, and internal controls
  • Familiarity with federal and state labor regulations
  • Deadline-driven with a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • 1–3 years of experience in accounting and payroll
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint highly preferred
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and MS Office Suite
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new software and systems
  • Office-based role with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use
  • Repetitive motions involving hands, wrists, and fingers
  • Standard business hours with occasional flexibility based on project needs
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, data entry, and handling documents
  • Occasional lifting or moving of items up to 25 pounds, such as files, office supplies, or small equipment
  • Ability to navigate office spaces, attend in-person meetings, and interact with team members across departments
  • May require extended hours during peak periods such as month-end close or payroll processing
  • Visual acuity required for reviewing detailed financial documents and spreadsheets
  • Ability to maintain focus and productivity in a deadline-driven environment

Responsibilities

  • Track and manage project costs and revenue for multiple government contracts using Deltek Costpoint 8.2
  • Prepare and submit timely and accurate invoices in accordance with purchase order terms
  • Partner with Field Services Program Managers to complete projects start to finish and documentation
  • Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding invoices to ensure prompt resolution
  • Support month-end close by preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts
  • Process bi-weekly payroll through ADP WorkForceNow, including compliance with California labor laws
  • Review and validate employee timecards weekly; resolve discrepancies with supervisors
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive financial and personnel data
  • Contribute to ad hoc projects and cross-functional initiatives as needed.
