That’s how we’re UNSTOPPABLE for our employees! This is a key position within the Magenta Service Center (MSC) in the Project to Retire (PTR) Accounting Team (specifically, Fixed Assets Accounting). The MSC – PTR Team is responsible for journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis in accordance with GAAP, IFRS and DT policies and procedures. Support business processes and make recommendations in order to improve and support business systems and activities. Understand the transactional flow through the various systems to monitor and ensure accurate financial results. Solid understanding of ERP system including sub-modules. May assist in the setup of processes and procedures that properly capture, track and report financial transactions. May generate ad-hoc reports for internal and/or external use. May interpret reports and records for managers/stakeholders. May be involved in reviewing, tracking and maintaining information in the financial systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS, GAAP and other accounting regulations. May be involved in quarterly and annual financial audit. This team also has responsibility for the development, modification, and maintenance of internal controls within these accounting processes to ensure the accuracy and objectivity of our financial records including SOX requirements. The Accountant I is responsible for managing multiple tasks that account for the financial results for Fixed Asset Accounting within the Project to Retire Accounting Team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (Required)
  • 1+ years Accounting (Preferred)
  • Public accounting or public company experience. (Preferred)
  • Communications, technology, or retail industry experience. (Preferred)
  • Possess a strong understanding of accounting systems and internal controls. (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to make fact-based decisions and recommendations. (Preferred)
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities while meeting set deadlines for team deliverables. (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt and excel in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. (Preferred)
  • Effectively collaborates and communicates with all levels of organization and cross-functional business partners. (Preferred)
  • Experience with ERP systems and related reporting tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Blackline). (Preferred)
  • Intermediate Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, sum if, x-lookup, etc.). (Preferred)
  • Understanding of large-scale data mining and reporting tools (e.g., PowerBI, SQL, Alteryx). (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Record journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts and identify opportunities for improvement to processes or format.
  • Learns business drivers and their effect on financial results.
  • Ensure accounting records, monthly accounting close activities, and variance analyses are adequately and properly prepared, maintained and explained in a timely manner.
  • Ability to manipulate and manage large volumes of transactional level data.
  • Use accounting concepts, experience, analytical skills and knowledge of industry to resolve issues in creative and effective ways and ensure that appropriate judgment is applied.
  • Maintains, and coordinates the implementation of accounting control procedures.
  • Participate in cross departmental projects.
  • Ability to understand business changes and articulate Accounting guidelines in support of effort.
