About The Position

The Accountant will apply principles of accounting to summarize financial and accounting data, analyze financial information, and prepare various schedules and financial reports to support the Accounting Department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Five years of experience in a business office setting with emphasis on general accounting, financial analysis, and report preparation.
  • Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Experience in public accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Access and advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with EPIC is preferred.
  • Experience in medical billing, bank reconciliation, and AR systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements, including inter-company transactions for both non-profit and for-profit entities.
  • Participate in annual financial audits, preparing financial statements, financial statement notes, audit checklists, and questionnaires.
  • Manage non-profit entity transactions and reconciliations.
  • Oversee for-profit corporate entities, including monthly financial statement preparation, journal entries, owners’ distributions, partner communications, and receivable collections.
  • Assist departments with budgetary issues and provide explanations for budget variances.
  • Independently analyze complex transactions and recommend accounting treatments and processes.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to unique and complex analyses.
  • Communicate key analytical findings clearly, both in writing and orally.
  • Coordinate and support various audits and special projects as assigned.
  • Evaluate and improve accounting systems and processes.
  • Multi-task and work effectively in a deadline-driven department.
  • Interact with all organizational levels to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results.
  • Work independently, paying attention to detail and navigating obstacles with minimal supervision.
  • Communicate complex accounting concepts in plain English to non-accounting professionals.
  • Adapt flexibly to industry and workload changes.
  • Lead and train staff for special projects or development purposes.
