About The Position

The Accountant position will assist the Accounting group with maintaining accurate and current financial records for the bank, ensuring compliance with regulations, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Associates Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required, with a Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, or an equivalent accumulation of experience and education.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and methodologies.
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 platform.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to learn and take initiative in a community-focused banking environment.

Banking experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Liquidity and correspondent bank management, including daily correspondent settlement and reconciliation of correspondent bank accounts.
Perform daily general ledger entries and reconcilements.
Primary ownership of bond accounting, including settlement and posting of sales, purchases, calls, and maturities, accounting for payments received and monthly amortization, accretion, and valuation changes.
Support Controller with period-end close process, including period-end journal entries.
Compilation and completion of general ledger reconciliations, including daily, monthly, and quarterly reconciliations.
Assist with data compilation for accounting models, including the allowance for credit loss, and interest rate risk modeling.
Create and maintain reports from core data processing system; clean, translate, and produce reports utilizing Microsoft Excel, Power Query, and Power BI.
Maintain accurate records of financial transactions in accordance with regulatory and company policies.
Assist with internal and external audits as needed.
Assist with Accounts Payable process, including data entry, GL coding, and payment remittance.
Ability to work with other teams and departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and resolve discrepancies.
Help ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
Provide general support for the accounting team and contribute to special projects as assigned.
