About The Position

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Accountant who will take primary ownership of Fixed Assets accounting for our U.S. Operations, lead Payroll Accounting, and support a broad scope of local and global accounting processes. You will ensure high-quality reporting, accurate financials, and compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and Volvo Cars policies. You will work in close cooperation with other Finance colleagues both at our Americas center in NJ, our Shared Service Center in India, our Global Accounting Center in Spain, as well as functions at the headquarters in Sweden.

Requirements

  • University degree in Finance or equivalent
  • At least 4 years of work experience in relevant accounting areas.
  • Ability to take own initiatives to further develop the role and processes.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Fluent in English both verbally and in writing
  • Excel skills
  • Computer literate and SAP user experience preferred
  • Position will require occasional travel

Responsibilities

  • Lead Fixed Assets accounting, including capitalization, AUC monitoring, disposals, depreciation, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure adherence to Volvo Cars Fixed Asset policies, accounting standards, and internal control requirements.
  • Own Payroll Accounting, including monthly payroll postings, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries to support an accurate and timely month-end close.
  • Reconcile assigned GL accounts and ensure completeness and accuracy of financial statements.
  • Perform monthly P&L and balance sheet analysis, explaining variances and key drivers.
  • Perform OneStream reporting for monthly consolidation and group reporting requirements.
  • Monitor and clear bank transactions, suspense accounts, and other accounting exceptions.
  • Support internal and external audits through accurate schedules, documentation, and control evidence.
  • Maintain compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and Volvo Cars financial directives.
  • Drive process improvements and support global GAD initiatives focused on automation and standardization.
  • Collaborate closely with Shared Service Centers, Americas Cluster, and HQ Sweden on accounting processes.
  • Support ad-hoc analysis, operational queries, and business cases as needed.
