Accountant

GlossGeniusNew York, NY
$95,000 - $110,000Hybrid

About The Position

As an Accountant at GlossGenius, you will play a key role in supporting the accuracy and efficiency of our day-to-day financial operations. Reporting to the Controller, you'll be hands-on across core accounting functions — from monthly close to reconciliations — and have the opportunity to grow alongside a fast-scaling company. We're looking for someone who doesn't just execute accounting tasks, but actively thinks about how AI and automation can make those tasks faster, smarter, and more scalable. We default to being in-office 3–4 days per week with required attendance on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of accounting experience, ideally at a high-growth startup, SaaS, or fintech company
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA is strong preferred
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and foundational accounting principles
  • Demonstrated interest in or experience with AI tools — whether using ChatGPT/Claude to draft analyses, automation platforms like Ramp or Zip for AP, or other tools that make your work faster and better
  • Comfort with general ledger systems; familiarity with NetSuite or a comparable ERP preferred
  • Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, with an appetite to move beyond spreadsheets toward more automated solutions
  • A builder's mindset — you don't just flag inefficiencies, you propose and help implement fixes

Responsibilities

  • Month-End Close: Assist in executing a timely and accurate monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations across the general ledger
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process vendor invoices, manage payment runs, monitor AR aging, and ensure timely collections and accurate records
  • Bank & Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Prepare and review reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, and key balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
  • Expense Management: Review and process employee expense reports in accordance with company policy, ensuring proper coding and documentation
  • Audit & Compliance Support: Assist in preparing schedules and documentation for the annual financial audit, supporting external auditors as needed
  • AI & Process Innovation: Proactively explore and pilot AI tools to eliminate low-value manual work and build more scalable accounting operations
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Finance, People Ops, and other teams to ensure transactions are properly recorded and financial data is reliable
