About The Position

Overall Expectation: Own and execute Ventura Manufacturing's core accounting operations with accuracy, attention to detail, and operational excellence. This role requires a technically proficient accountant who maintains accurate financial records, ensures timely month-end close processes, and delivers reliable financial reporting while identifying opportunities to strengthen accounting processes and controls. Highlighted Expectations: Manage general ledger operations including journal entries, account reconciliations, and maintain the chart of accounts to ensure accurate and complete financial records. Execute month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing trial balances, reviewing account activity, posting adjusting entries, and ensuring all closing deadlines are met. Prepare financial statements and management reports including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and variance analysis to support business decision-making. Perform bank reconciliations and cash management activities to ensure accuracy between internal records and external bank statements. Support forecasting processes by analyzing financial data, identifying trends, tracking forecast vs. actual performance, and providing variance explanations. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls including supporting internal and external audits, maintaining documentation, and following established policies and procedures. Leverage ERP systems and Excel to maintain data integrity, automate reporting, improve efficiency, and ensure accurate financial information across the organization. Identify and implement process improvements within accounting workflows, reporting structures, and month-end close procedures to drive continuous improvement. Support global accounting operations, including intercompany transactions, foreign currency (Fx) forecasting, and consolidation of international financial data. Help establish accounting best practices and standard work instructions, and train team members to ensure consistent execution across locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • Minimum 3 years of professional accounting experience with demonstrated competency in general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting
  • Manufacturing industry experience required with understanding of production costing, inventory accounting, and manufacturing financial operations
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (IQMS, SAP, Oracle, or similar) and strong Excel skills including pivot tables and financial modeling
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles with ability to apply them accurately in daily operations
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work onsite daily in Zeeland, MI

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certification or progress toward CPA licensure
  • Automotive industry experience with knowledge of automotive supply chain and manufacturing processes
  • Experience with cost accounting including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation
  • Advanced Excel and financial systems expertise including reporting automation and dashboard development
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean or Six Sigma methodologies
  • Experience with intercompany accounting, foreign currency transactions, and global consolidation processes
  • Familiarity with international accounting standards (e.g., IFRS) and multi-currency ERP environments
