About The Position
The Accountant position at Barrio Action Youth and Family Center is a full-time role responsible for comprehensive bookkeeping and accounting functions. The organization has been serving the El Sereno, Lincoln Heights, Ramona Gardens, and Northeast Los Angeles communities for over 40 years, providing a range of services including educational, recreational, legal, and health support. The Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of the organization, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported. This position reports directly to the Associate Executive Director and the President & CEO, and it is essential for the Accountant to work collaboratively with other team members to support the organization's mission of helping individuals and families overcome social, economic, and academic challenges. The Accountant will be responsible for full charge bookkeeping, which includes overseeing general ledger maintenance, preparing monthly financial reports, and managing accounts payable and payroll processing. The role requires a detail-oriented individual who can handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality and trustworthiness. The Accountant will also prepare monthly invoices as required by grants, assist in budget preparation and forecasting, and ensure compliance with financial regulations. This position is vital for the financial health of the organization, as it involves preparing financial reports for the board and coordinating with external auditors during fiscal reviews and audits. In addition to the core accounting responsibilities, the Accountant will also provide general administrative support and assist with community events as needed. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles, proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office, and experience in non-profit accounting.
