About The Position
The accountant position at Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine provides essential support for accounting and financial reporting functions within the Finance department. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with various accounting principles and company policies. The accountant will report directly to the Assistant Controller and will be responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute to the overall financial health of the institution. The starting salary for this position is $45,000, which may vary based on the candidate's experience. This position is hybrid remote, requiring some in-office work, with the specific schedule to be developed in collaboration with the hiring manager. In this role, the accountant will construct routine spreadsheet applications to prepare financial data for input into the finance system. They will assist in preparing, reconciling, balancing, and maintaining accounting records for the balance sheet and other relevant accounts. Key responsibilities include reconciling bank statements, entering data into the finance system, and reviewing expenditure transaction data to ensure compliance with company policies and accounting principles. The accountant will also be responsible for distributing monthly reports and supporting department administrative assistants, as well as developing proficiency in the college's software systems. Additionally, the accountant will serve as an aid in various detailed reconciliations, assist in audits and audit paperwork preparation, and participate in local, state, and federal government reporting. They will also help ensure compliance with funding and reporting requirements, as well as standard accounting procedures. The level of duty and responsibilities will be determined based on the level at which the candidate is hired, whether as Accountant I or Accountant II, each with specific educational and experience requirements.
