Accountant

About the position

FLETC's mission is to train and support the training of federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement officers and international partners that are responsible for enforcing laws, treaties, and regulations within the United States and abroad. The position of Accountant GS-0510-12 is located in the Chief Financial Office Directorate, where the primary purpose is to provide professional accounting services, including administering computerized accrual accounting operations, preparing financial reports, and providing oversight and guidance to junior accountants.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert and authoritative advice on complex financial accounting work.
• Independently perform analysis of financial operations, identify problems, and take corrective action.
• Plan and conduct research and analysis related to financial decision-making processes.
• Provide professional accounting advice and assistance.
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements.
• Oversee and manage quality assurance reviews for payment and obligation functions.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Must successfully pass a background investigation.
• Current and former federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements.
• Occasional travel may be required.
• Weekends and federal holidays may be required.
• Overtime may be required.
• Must be a current DHS employee.
