Under direction, performs responsible professional-level financial analysis reporting and accounting work; develops and implements reporting and record keeping procedures; may supervise lower level accounting support personnel; audits business license accounts; and performs related work as required. Positions in this class perform the difficult professional-level accounting work of the unit. The incumbent may supervise and direct the work of assigned personnel, develops procedures and personally performs in depth financial analysis and auditing work. A major portion of the incumbent's time is involved in the preparation of varied financial and management information reports. The incumbent may also be involved in auditing business license accounts. Positions in this class have considerable independence in selecting work methods from a variety of standard methods or procedures. Incumbents are expected to resolve most problems confronted through the application of judgment and precedent, referring to the supervisor only those problems which involve the establishment of new procedures or which involve solutions which are inconsistent with departmental procedures and policies.
