About The Position

The Accountant position at the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency (HIEMA) involves overseeing financial management and accounting services related to disaster recovery projects. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major work in accounting.
• Three and a half years of progressively responsible work experience in accounting and auditing principles and methods.
• Valid driver's license in the state of Hawaii.
• Ability to obtain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate the agency's planning, programming, and budgeting activities.
• Maintain budgetary and fiscal controls over federal, State, and other extramural funds.
• Establish and implement policies, procedures, and standards for HIEMA's management system.
• Promulgate regulations and policies related to the management and administration of State personnel.
• Direct and control State purchasing and contracting activities and property accountability.
• Assist in the development and implementation of federal and State legislative programs.
• Administer the occupational safety and health program, worker's compensation program, and fleet insurance program.
• Provide accounting and financial advisory services related to the maintenance of the Project's accounting system.
• Ensure proper allocation of funds for various projects and contracts associated with disaster recovery activities.
• Serve as a member of the State Emergency Response Team (SERT) and Emergency Response Team (ERT) during emergencies.
