About The Position

As an Accountant in the Treasury Disbursements team at Nationwide, you will play a crucial role in the Finance department, focusing on various accounting functions, including the maintenance of the general ledger and preparation of financial reports. Requirements

• Undergraduate studies in accounting or finance; accounting major and degree preferred.
• Progress towards CPA preferred.
• Up to two years of related accounting experience.
• Knowledge of industry practices and procedures, GAAP and/or STAT, and financial statement preparation.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to analyze reporting and financial data for compliance.
• Basic mathematical calculation skills.
• Proficiency in personal computer and related accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Approve manual payment requests.
• Process stop pays and voids, ACH recalls, and other related processes.
• Assist with the coordination, preparation, and analysis of financial reports and statements.
• Maintain necessary accounting records and files as required.
• Perform maintenance of the general ledger.
• Prepare and verify financial reports required by various insurance bureaus and regulatory authorities.
• Correspond with field staff or outside sources regarding discrepancies or other matters.
• Maintain current knowledge of changes to GAAP and statutory accounting requirements.
• Recommend changes to enhance job performance and workflow.
• Assist in the development and design of new accounting/financial processes.
