Coinbase is looking for a highly motivated accounting professional to join our Capital Markets Accounting team and play a key role in our continued growth and achievement of operational excellence. The Staff Accountant on the Prime Financing/ Capital Markets team must possess strong accounting and operational expertise, an ability to communicate and work with various teams outside of Finance (such as Financing, Data, Trading Ops and other Engineering groups), and a desire to make a meaningful impact on a dynamic, high-growth technology company. Reporting to the Manager, Prime Financing, the Staff Accountant will work with various cross functional teams within the Company and requires someone with impeccable attention to detail and a financial and analytic mindset. This position will impact a rapidly growing organization/ business area and offers career development opportunities for the right candidate.

Requirements

Minimum of 3-5 years accounting experience; Big 4 public accounting and/or industry experience in the fintech/financial services industries.
BA/BS in Accounting or related field / CPA license highly desirable
Able to work well in a dynamic environment, implement process improvements as well as work autonomously and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Possess excellent analytical, problem solving and prioritization skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong work ethic and team player.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of blockchain technology and the crypto economy.
Knowledge of SQL, Python or other programming languages.
Experience working in Netsuite, FloQast and G-Suite.

Responsibilities

Prepare monthly financing accounting entries, reconciliations, and cash flows.
Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial results presentations for executive management.
Assist with preparing financial statement disclosures and support related to financing products and derivatives, working closely with the financial reporting, accounting policy and auditors
Collaborate with cross-functional partners to test and operationalize new areas of the business to facilitate streamlined accounting transactions as assigned
Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures over platform accounting activities
Assist in the development and implementation of scalable accounting processes to facilitate timely and accurate financial reporting.
Analyze data against business drivers to identify trends / issues.
Provide support for internal and external audits related to specific areas of responsibility.
Maintain up-to-date process documentation and procedures as assigned
Support ad hoc financial information requests and analyses and other special projects as assigned
