About The Position

The Accountant III will be responsible for all aspects of property accounting for a portfolio of properties, preparing or reviewing office lease abstracts, preparing or reviewing deliverables for the month-end close and additional technical accounting tasks as necessary. This role includes responsibilities for all of the organization’s Office and Industrial properties and all Residential properties, regardless of the ownership entity. This role will also support the financial reporting processes.

  • Four-year Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 5-10 years training as an Accountant, experience in real estate environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of Yardi Software.
  • Intermediate Excel spreadsheet skills.

Responsibilities

  • This role includes responsibilities for all of the organization’s Office and Industrial properties and all Residential properties, regardless of the ownership entity.
  • Support the financial reporting process through preparation or review of schedules and reconciliations used in the preparation of various financial statements and regulatory filings. This may include compilation and review of support used to tie out the values presented in these filings.
  • Review deliverables submitted by Accountant II and Accountant I personnel.
  • Complete the monthly close, prepare property operating statements, book monthly accruals, and provide explanations for budget to actual variances.
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Research inquiries from senior management during the monthly and quarterly closes.
  • Prepare tax and operating expense recovery billings.
  • Abstract lease documents into the accounting ledger or review the abstracts of others.
  • Review and post monthly fixed charges..
  • Collaborate with Collections and Property Management departments to provide information and resolve tenant inquiries as needed.
  • Assist with training of other accountants.
  • Assist with special projects or assignments, as necessary.
