Requirements

  • Three years of successful accounting experience.
  • Valid driver's license at the time of application and a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of employment.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and modern municipal accounting procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, schedules, and directs the work of clerical personnel.
  • Supervises the keeping of journals and subsidiary ledgers.
  • Posts the general ledger and prepares monthly budget and actual reports.
  • Reconciles accounts of various funds and General Ledger to Project Reports.
  • Conducts internal audits of cash receipts and disbursements.
  • Monitors grants for compliance and prepares related cash draws.
  • Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local statutes regarding State Revolving Fund Loans.
  • Reviews fiscal source documents for grants and loans for accuracy and completeness.
  • Locates and applies for applicable grants.
  • Provides information and assistance in budget preparation.
  • Monitors transactions for budget compliance.
  • Responsible for financial reporting and expenditure tracking for capital projects.
  • Performs analytical procedures to identify expenditure and revenue trends.
  • Assists departmental personnel and taxpayers with inquiries.
  • Prepares special reports or completes special projects.
  • Composes correspondence related to department matters.
  • Participates in annual review of Wastewater service rates and prepares financial plans.
  • Develops and tracks Cost Recovery Agreements for sanitary sewers.
  • Makes wastewater rate adjustments for billing.
