About The Position

UTSW is seeking an Accountant II to join the dynamic growing Department of Psychiatry, on our Financial Affairs team. In this important role, you will lend financial support to approve research related expenses, reconcile assigned accounts, and assist with invoicing various award sponsors. Additionally, you will interface with several departments, i.e. SPA, accounting, cash management, and other departments. Our ideal candidate has excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to adjust depending on the circumstances. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or
  • Associate's Degree or
  • High School Diploma
  • 2 years Professional experience in governmental and/or commercial accounting or auditing with Bachelor's Degree or
  • 4 years Professional experience in governmental and/or commercial accounting or auditing with Associate's Degree or
  • 6 years Experience in governmental and/or commercial accounting or auditing with High School Diploma

Responsibilities

  • Verifies postings in ledgers and journals for accuracy and compliance with prescribed accounting procedures.
  • Verifies accuracy of accounting ledgers and resolves discrepancies.
  • Compiles data and prepares spreadsheets related to various financial activities.
  • Furnishes data for general ledger accounts for correctness of income and/or expenses and for maintenance of adequate balances; reconciles monthly and annual salary reports.
  • Assists in development and implementation of new or revised accounting and operational procedures.
  • May compile and prepare monthly, quarterly and/or annual reports as required.
  • May prepare and/or approve various on-line expenditures, journal vouchers, etc.
  • May provide working supervision to Accounting Clerk and/or Accountant I positions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
