About The Position

The Accountant II will be a member of Ally's Controller's Team. Reporting to the Manager, the position will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of the consolidated financial statements of a public company and key responsibilities include gathering information from the various groups, pulling the information into the quarterly and annual financial statements and working thru the various levels of review from a number of business owners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required (Accounting major preferred).
  • CPA (or equivalent) and/or MBA preferred.
  • 1+ year of work experience (including internship, co-op, or related) in Accounting or similar field with functional skills for area of expertise.
  • Workday experience preferred.
  • Exhibit a strong work ethic and high degree of self-motivation.
  • Must possess good communication skills.
  • Ability to organize data, perform independent analysis, and provide explanations/conclusions to management.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision while applying previous experience to execute moderately complex tasks.
  • Ability to contribute meaningfully to projects.
  • Comfortable interacting with other personnel in group or support staff from other departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced MS Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of the quarterly and year-end financial statements (10-Q/10-K).
  • Coordinate with a number of groups across the enterprise in gathering all the necessary materials.
  • Participate in gathering the review comments and making any necessary changes to the financial statements.
  • Assist in analytical accounting support to the internal business partners.
  • Assist in the resolution of accounting problems thru the appropriate channels.
  • Manage and improve the processes around the assigned accounting activities.
  • Drive audit compliance within the areas for which you are responsible.
  • Contribute to ad hoc analytical projects as necessary both within and beyond your primary area of focus.
