We have an exciting opening for an Accountant I ! This person ensures the proper accounting for transactions that are critical to the operations of the Premera group of companies. He/she is responsible for month-end closing processes, including journal entries, monthly reconciliations and variance analyses of assigned general ledger accounts for Premera Blue Cross and its subsidiaries. He/she exhibits a commitment to excellence, initiative, innovation, adaptability, and teamwork.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or (4) years' experience in accounting or related field. (Required)
  • One (1) year of relevant experience. (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA). (Preferred)
  • Experience working with Workday or a similar application. (Preferred)
  • Health insurance experience. (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for monthly close processes including journal entries, reconciliations and variance analyses.
  • Develop, analyze and interpret accounting data.
  • Support senior accountants with account reconciliations as well as in their work with internal and external auditors.
  • Seek out opportunities for process improvement or to gain efficiency.
  • Research, investigate, and resolve accounting, reconciliation and system discrepancies.
  • Proactively identifies issues and independently works to resolve completion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
