About The Position

The Accountant position at the Ingham County Health Department involves analyzing financial data to support the department's financial needs. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance with an Accounting major.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in fund or governmental accounting.
• Strong communication skills to engage with diverse individuals and groups.
• Proficiency in general ledger reconciliation and account analysis.
• Knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial data to develop, monitor, and report on the financial needs of the Health Department.
• Prepare monthly billings and financial reporting for various grant programs.
• Assist in the preparation of documentation for annual audited financial statements.
• Provide technical assistance to other units within the Health Department regarding accounting issues and grants.
• Prepare interim consolidated financial statements for management purposes.
• Monitor Health Department service provider subcontracts for compliance with contract provisions.
• Process financial scorecards and accounts receivable reports.
• Assist department managers in developing and amending budgets for grant proposals.
• Complete tasks for internal and external audits, including year-end adjustments and account analysis.
• Develop reporting mechanisms to extract and analyze data for grants and service delivery requirements.
